DESCRIPTION: Theatre is a competitive industry, and auditioning can be terribly nerve-wracking. The good news is that auditioning is a skill like any other: it can be mastered with practice. 

In this course, students will sharpen their auditioning skills by applying Michael Shurtleff’s 12 Guideposts as a framework. By the end of the course students will have TWO contrasting monologues that can be used for general and college auditions. In our training together, students will to learn how to:

• Understand what makes good audition material.
• Craft a monologue from the moment before to the final beat.
• Feel confident walking into an audition room.
• Deliver an inviting slate/introduction.
• Work on characterization (voice, body, shape, tempo/rhythm)
